Flap gates act as a check or backflow valve by allowing flow to pass in one direction only and are most commonly found at the end of a pipeline for back flow control, or to seal out pests and provide vector control. A typical use is with river outfalls, in tidal and marshy areas, and around lakes or reservoirs with fluctuating water levels.

Depending on their application, flap gates can be made of:

  • Cast iron
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminum
  • Rubber
  • Other Copolymers
