Our Mission

Empowering communities across Canada with the data and information they need to build low carbon, climate-resilient housing and infrastructure today for a changing tomorrow.

Vision

Our goal is to be the go-to destination for relevant, actionable data and information from trustworthy sources.

Why build Climate Insight now?

In the face of Canada’s escalating climate and housing challenges, communities across Canada need easy access to trustworthy data and climate information. Climate Insight is an online platform designed to meet this need. It provides a centralized source for communities to find the tools and data they need to advance low carbon, climate-resilient housing and infrastructure initiatives in their communities.

Climate Insight is designed to ease the burden of data collection and tool selection fatigue by sourcing and centralizing the tools and data that are the most relevant to practitioners advancing low carbon, climate resilient housing and infrastructure in their communities.

Climate Insight is actively being developed and mobilized through a collaborative, consultative process over the course of five years (2023-2028). New features and functionality will continue to be added to ensure our mandate of supporting the needs of communities.

Who We Are

ICLEI Canada is part of a global network working to achieve tangible sustainability results through cumulative local actions. We support local governments by providing them with expertise and resources to take climate action in their communities. To do this, we bring together a wide-variety of partners and stakeholders across government, industry, academia and the NGO community to build more sustainable, low carbon, biodiverse, and climate-ready communities.

Advisory Groups

To ensure Climate Insight continues to be relevant and up to date, we rely on a number of groups to provide feedback and suggestions that guide the user experience, identify areas of content development, get information to the target audiences, and help maintain the platform functionality and content through each release over the next four years.

If your organization has capacity and are interested in participating in any of the groups below, please contact Sheri Young, Project Director at sheri.young@iclei.org

We respectfully acknowledge that ICLEI Canada’s work happens across Turtle Island which has traditionally been and is home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples since time immemorial.

We recognize that reconciliation is a fundamental component to building net-zero, resilient communities. We are committed to strengthening relationships with Indigenous groups and knowledge keepers, knowing that reconciliation requires ongoing learning, unlearning, reflection, and action. We endeavour to listen to and learn from Indigenous Peoples on an ongoing basis in the process of our work.
