Ties to option for sprinklers, does this include sprinklers on exterior of buildings to address wildfire risk?
NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, provides the latest requirements for automatic sprinkler system design, installation, and testing to ensure that sprinkler systems are reliable and effective in controlling or extinguishing fires and for protecting lives and property.
Climate Change Elements
Although the standard does not mention climate change explicitly, Chapter 8.7 addresses outside sprinklers for protection against exposure fires through exposure protection sprinkler systems. These exposure protection sprinkler systems are meant to protect the exterior of buildings regardless of whether the building's interior is protected by a sprinkler system, and thus may be used for resilience to wildfires.
Housing Elements
There are multiple sections of this standard specific to residential buildings. For example, Chapter 9 outlines location installation requirements for sprinklers on balconies and decks serving dwelling units and the entirety of Chapter 12 is dedicated to addressing installation requirements for residential sprinklers.
